Launched in 1989 to redistribute excess food from the presidential inauguration, the kitchen has grown into a central location for recovering, preparing, and delivering reclaimed and surplus food to homeless shelters, transitional-housing programs, and social services agencies. This grant allows the completion of a business and implementation plan for an expansion of the food commissary.
