The coalition of 70 environmental, public health, and faith-based organizations, created in 1980, promotes public policies at the state and national level to protect Michigan’s water, landscapes, and communities, and supports programs on energy, environmental health, land use, and water to defend the state against water diversion and depletion, mercury emissions, and other environmental hazards. Funding supports the council’s efforts to increase environmental sustainability in Detroit.
